A local school was running a ‘Fruit & Veg Critter Competition’ at their summer fete so Beavers & Cubs had a go! Many thanks to Blandford Tesco for donating the food for this activity!

For this activity badge Beavers needed to know how to pump a tyre, know the importance of Safety and have a go at riding.

For the ‘Outdoor Challenge Badge’ Beavers had a go at lighting fires safely and how to pitch a tent.

Wild Woodbury, Bere Regis – May 2025
Beavers explored Wild Woodbury for their Explore Activity badge. They saw Kites, very hairy caterpillar and an empty egg shell.

Beaver Scouts Allotment – May 2025
Beavers had fun clearing out the allotment of all the bulbs and planting in the Cucumber, Carrot and Pumpkin seeds.. fingers crossed we grow well again!

Group 5th Anniversary Celebration
– October 2024
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Young Leaders and Volunteers came together to celebrate our 5th Anniversary of forming The Winterbornes Scout Group… We had a great time learning some circus skills with Circus Workshop Party

BIG well done to Hazel and Lachlann for being awarded their Chief Scout Bronze Awards from Beavers.. this is a HUGE achievement, we are super proud!!
Summer Camp 2024
We all enjoyed a great week away at Buddens Activity Centre, Bere Regis. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts had a go at Abseiling, Climbing, Caving, Raft Building, Archery, Bell Boating and Zip Lining. BIG thank you again to Akela (our Cub Leader) for organising and to all our volunteers for coming and supporting this camp.
Essex International Jamboree
We had 3 Winterborne Scouts join 17 Blandford Scouts on an AWESOME adventure to this AMAZING Jamboree in Essex. BIG THANK YOU to everyone who supported the fundraising for our Scouts to attend this event!

Scouts Cycle Ride – May 2024
During half term our Scout troop spent a beautiful day cycling from Blandford to Sturminster Newton and back… they definitely deserved their ice creams on the way back!

May Fair 2024, Milborne St Andrew
Our Group and some volunteers from Blandford Scout Troop ran a stall raising money for Essex Jamboree. We had nerf gun targets, hook a duck, making robot keyrings and Aiden sold his handmade paracord items

Beavers BAM – May 2024
Our Beavers joined Blandford Scout Group Beaver colonies for a great session at Bournemouth Aviation Museum. Big thank you to the volunteers at the museum for all their help.

Beavers Money Skills – February 2024
Minds were blown when Beavers discovered placing these coins together made a shield. They also had fun earning money to purchase items from our ‘Trading Post’
Census figures for 2024
We have a nice even spread of numbers throughout each section and we have a great number of young people moving on to the next sections and into young leadership roles!
We really do need some more adult volunteers to make sure we continue to be stable and secure!

Group Navigation / Hike Event – October 2023
We all (Beavers, Cubs & Scouts) met at Cerne Abbas Village Hall and learnt some navigation / compass skills before heading out on a hike. The highlight for some Scouts… just after reaching the summit they had hale stones pelting them for a few minutes!
Thank you to the family members that volunteered their time to come and help/support this event, it was much appreciated!

Summer Camp 2023
Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and volunteers enjoyed a brilliant week away at Huish Woods in Somerset. It was the first camp that Beavers have joined the Cubs and Scouts, and they all slept two nights! BIG thank you to Akela (our Cub Leader) for organising and to all our volunteers for coming and supporting and making such a fun week.

Groovy Smoothies – April 2023
Beavers learnt how to chop fruit safely, we popped them into a sandwich bag with some milk, tied in a knot and placed inside a football. Lots of kicks later.. we all enjoyed a lovely fruity milkshake!

Celebrating Mums/Carers – March 2023
Beavers decorated biscuits and cakes, made lovely cards, set a table, welcomed their loved ones and served them hot/cold drinks

Scout Skills – March 2023

Cubs Disability Awareness – Feb 2023

Chestnut & Mike – 2023
Mike Mullett (aka Chestnut) volunteered in Scouts and other community events/groups. The Milborne St Andrew May Fair donated some money in Mikes memory and we thought these two bears would be a great addition to our Colony – especially for comfort at sleepovers and camps

Beaver Dinosaur Sleepover – March 2023
Our Beaver colony joined Charlton Marshall and Blandford for a fun packed 24 hours. It was lovely for young people and adults to make new friends.

In January 2023 Beavers had a go at making their own instruments and then the week after we used them to practice and perform the B.I.N.G.O song.

Group Christmas Party – December 2022
We met at The Crown and sung some carols to members of the community then walked to the hall and enjoyed party games, refreshment and finished with our Raffle. We raised £644! Thank you to everyone who supported us

Blandford Yuletide Lantern Parade – December 2022

Cubs Conker Craft – November 2022

Beavers learnt about fire safety and made some great patterns with their sparklers. They also created an indoor bonfire and we all sang some campfire songs

Highlights from the session…
Meeting a lovely leader from Guernsey. His Scouts are coming to the New Forest next year to the same campsite ours were at this summer. They discussed the highlights of this camp and the expedition some did in Wales.
Another lovely leader and her Scouts who were on a 24 hour sleepover challenge from the Faroe Islands. She taught our Scouts how to say ‘Thank you’ and ‘Be Prepared’ – she was impressed with their effort!

Summer Camp 2022
Cubs, Scouts and volunteers enjoyed a very hot and fun long weekend at Ferny Croft in the New Forest. We had a go at lots of activities, including joining the rest of the campsite (lots of Scouts and Guides from across the Country) in a movie night with popcorn and slushies.
